Machine Market ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using Machine Market, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number (if provided), location (suburb and state), and any content you include in listings or messages. We also collect technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and usage data (pages visited, search queries, and interactions with the platform).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to: operate and improve the Machine Market platform; create and manage your account; display your listings and facilitate communication between users; send service-related notifications (such as new messages); analyse usage patterns to improve the platform; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Authentication and Third-Party Services
Machine Market uses Supabase for authentication and data storage. If you sign in using Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or other account data. Your authentication credentials are managed securely by the authentication provider and are not stored directly by Machine Market.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We may use analytics tools to understand how the platform is used. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but this may affect your ability to use certain features of the platform.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Disclosure of Information
We may disclose your personal information to: other users as part of normal platform operation (for example, your display name and location are visible on your listings); service providers who assist us in operating the platform (such as hosting and authentication providers); and law enforcement or government agencies where required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
8. Your Rights
Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and associated data; and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached your privacy. 9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records. Anonymised usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Machine Market is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will take steps to delete their account and associated data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the platform or by email. Continued use of Machine Market after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
